Meet the Faculty


Under the leadership of Erin Sanfelippo, the faculty at Star Dance Center brings years of dance industry experience combined with a love of teaching. Every student receives thoughtful, individualized attention from highly-dedicated teachers whose mission is to help them reach their highest potential.

Erin Sanfelippo

Miss Erin Sanfelippo has been happily teaching dance and theater classes to children all over Southern California for 23 years!.

A graduate of UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television, Miss Erin’s performing career includes dancing and singing all over Southern California, in commercials, television, industrials and for Disney; working with such celebrities as Adam Lambert and Fred Willard and many of today’s Broadway stars.

In 2005, Erin took over Star Dance Center here in Newhall and the studio has continued to grow for 15 years, voted Best Dance Studio in the Santa Clarita Valley by The Signal.

Miss Erin’s work with preschool dancers is featured in her animated dance class film “Miss Erin’s Magical Dance Class,” which features original songs and vocals from Miss Erin.

Erin truly believes that the joy of dance should be shared with all ages and is passionate about sharing her love for dance with as many students as possible.

 Marissa Mayer



Marissa is a Los Angeles native who grew up studying dance at the LA County High School for the Arts, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, and Ballet Chicago. She trained with Alvin Ailey’s original member Don Martin, TV/Film's Erica Robson, and NDT’s Fiona Lummis, to name a few. She received her B.A. in Musical Theatre, and minor in Dance, from Point Park University, in Pittsburgh, PA.


She moved to NYC after college, where she studied with Lindsey Mendez and Ryan Scott Oliver through their Musical Theatre program, Actor Therapy. Marissa has since returned to LA and has worked regionally, around the country, as a dance captain and playing roles such as Joan in Dames at Sea, Bebe in A Chorus Line, and Miss Shields in A Christmas Story The Musical. Marissa is also the assistant to Broadway's Chryssie Whitehead and Alexis Carra.













Carly Becerra

Mrs. Carly has built her life around the art of dance. Before she started her teaching career she was a well accomplished dancer. During her time as a competitive dancer she earned many accalades. Including seven title awards and many overall achievements and specialty performance awards. She even recieved perfect scores from all four judges at Dance Rave National Competition. She performed at numerous charity events like Heal the Bay and opening ceremonies for the Special Olympics. As well as a back up dancer for Ricki Martin for the Pepsi brand commercials.Mrs. Carly's high energy and passion for dance is reflected in her teaching. She started by assisting and co-choreographing for her dance studio's Musical Theater Program. She also taught technique classes as well. Carly danced and choreographed for Mrs. Manzo's advanced dance program for all for years of high school, as well as teaching the intermediate program weekly lessons.

At the age of 19 she started working in Kathy Dagget's Movement Education Tumbling & Sports preschool program. She traveled to several preschools in the La Crescenta and La Canada Flintridge area, as well as helping the company add Aria Montessori in Pasadena. Soon she also started assistant coaching the Cheer program at Maranatha High School and started her journey at Revolution Dance Center.

With three teaching jobs under her belt Carly was still ready for the next challenge. After two years she left Maranatha High School to accept the head coaching job at La Canada High School. For four years she was in charge of the entire Pep Program.

By the end of 2014 Carly had three teaching jobs, had married her boyfriend of seven years, purchased a home together, was promoted to Preschool Director at RDC, implemented a new RDC dance program at Valley Vista Preschool, and been awarded Best Dance Teacher in Glendale by Glendale Newspress.

Carly then decided to focus on her classes at RDC, being Preschool Director, and implementing RDC's new Kinder Musical Theater classes. She expanded the tap, ballet, hip hop and new Musical Theater program at Valley Vista Preschool. Carly's passion for teaching grows each and every year.

In 2019 she became pregnant with her third child. She decided to focus on her individual classes and took a step back from directing. In 2020 she gave birth to her second daughter. With three kids in tow she was so excited to expand her dance family at Star Dance Center in Winter of 2020.

She is fulfilled by teaching dance and raising her three children. Dance is her constant and direct calling in life. It is her passion and purpose.


Chino Lopez

Chino Lopez

Robert “Chino” Lopez got his start in dance as a hip hop street dancer in Arizona. He eventually transitioned into street salsa in the club scene, battling at clubs, jams, and competitions. This opened the door to other forms of dance like Hip hop choreo, Ballroom, Contemporary, Ballet, Jazz, Samba, and many other styles. After moving to Los Angeles he formed the Latin fusion group Angeleno Funk, winning and competing in many Latin competitions.

He has worked with artists such as Eminem, J-Lo, Ingrid Michaelson, Jhene Aiko, Jody Watley, and Sergio Mendes just to name a few. He has been featured on "America’s best Dance Crew," "Dexter," "How I Met Your Mother," "Indiana Jones," "Transformers 3," "Honey 2," "Austin and Ally," "Bizaardvark" and many commercials from Nike, Verizon, Guess, Boost and many others.

Mr. Chino passionately shares his knowledge with anyone willing to learn.

Christina Noland

Christina Noland

Miss Christina began dancing at the age of seven, training in Tap, Jazz, Polynesian and Tahitian dancing. At the age of eleven she began dancing competitively and continued her training studying Ballet, Modern, Lyrical, Tap, Jazz and Polynesian and Tahitian dancing. As a teenager she began training at The Edge and Millennium Dance Complex. Miss Christina Studied Ballet, Modern, and Pilates at Walt Disney’s California Institute of the the Arts where she was a dance major.

Miss Christina has a love and passion for performing on stage and has been in shows such as “Big River”, “Chicago”, “The Phantom”, and her favorite “A Chorus Line”.

Miss Christina has been teaching at Star Dance for 16 years, teaching Tap, lyrical, Jazz and hip hop. She was also a choreographer for the competition team for many years. She has won numerous awards for her choreography and costumes. She is also a certified Paula Morgan Technique instructor.

One of Miss Christina’s greatest joys as a teacher is getting to share her love of dance with her students. As a teacher her greatest reward is watching her students grow as dancers and seeing the joy and smiles on their faces when they are dancing. She hopes to be an inspiration to her students as well a positive role model in their lives.

Elizabeth Galvada

Kelly Alvarez

Miss Kelly  is a native of Los Angeles and has performed with companies such as PTERO Dance Theatre, Winifred Harris' Between Lines Dance Co., Brockus Project Dance Company, and MULTIPLEX Dance, and for notable choreographers such as Christopher Huggins, Curt Haworth, Kim Bears-Bailey, Brian Sanders, Rei Aoo, and Manfred Fischbeck, among others. She has also appeared in commercials such as Diet Coke and in music videos for The Smashing Pumpkins and Depeche Mode. Kelly completed her Master of Fine Arts in Dance from The University of California, Irvine and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Modern Dance with honors from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Kelly is certified in Pre-Primary through Level 5 of the American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum. Since receiving her comprehensive Pilates certification in 2007, Kelly has taught Pilates and worked as a physical therapist's aide in various studios in Southern California and was an on-set Pilates instructor to Michael Jackson's dancers in preparation for the famed "This Is It" world tour. As a choreographer, Kelly's work has been selected to be presented at the Southern Vermont Dance Festival, the Las Vegas Dance In The Desert Festival, McCallum Dance Under the Stars Choreography Festival, Eveoke Celebrate Dance Festival, Dancers Responding to AIDS, GLUE Performance Series, MixMatch Dance Festival, Cypress College, and UC Irvine, among others. Kelly also was the recipient of the People's Choice Award and the Judge's Award/ Grand Prize at the Rocky Mountain Choreography Festival in Utah. She is the director of her own touring company, Kelly Alvarez and Artists. Fusing her experience in kinesiology, injury prevention, and rehabilitation with her long history of diverse dance training in ballet, modern, contemporary, and jazz, Kelly approaches each dance class with an eye for correct body placement and mechanics, while also emphasizing the importance of performance qualities. She aims to inspire each student to give their best in each class, providing opportunities for students of different learning styles to grasp and absorb the material. Kelly strives to give her students "the smarts, the strength, and the passion!" Kelly is currently an Adjunct Professor of Dance at Loyola Marymount University as well as guest faculty at the American Ballet Theatre Gillespie School and has also taught at The University of California, Irvine and at Cypress College. An avid teacher since 1996, Kelly continues to share her love of dance with students around the country through master classes, workshops, and private lessons.



Hayley Hayutin

Hayley Hayutin

Miss Hayley began dancing at the age of 5 right here at Star Dance Center! She had immediately found her passion and began to take classes in all styles of dance. Hayley is trained in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, musical theater and acro. She joined the competition team by age 7 and enjoyed competing in all the way up to her final year of high school, winning many top awards with her team over the years.

At the age of 13 she began to assist various classes at the studio. At age 16 she completed a course to become a Certified Assistant Dance Teacher. Once she graduated from High School she began to teach her own classes. Hayley loves teaching dance and still loves to perform as well! At age 19 she fulfilled a long time dream when she was hired as a performer at Disneyland.

Hayley is also a Certified AcroDance Preschool instructor and is in the process of completing her Personal Trainer Certification.

Mechelle Ferris

Mechelle Ferris

Miss Mechelle has been with the Star Dance Family for the last 15 years and is happy to be part of such an amazing, nurturing studio.

Mechelle was born and raised on St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. She began her dance life at the age of 5 with a dance company in the USVI. She was with them for 16 years, focusing on the styles of Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, and Modern.

Mechelle continued dancing with her USVI company and performed in many productions, including The Nutcracker Suite, before moving to California. There, she continued dancing by attending classes at the Millennium studio in NOHO and being part of her high school dance team. When she graduated high school, Mechelle joined a dance company at Moorpark College and also stared teached dance at a local studio. That was when she knew that her love for dance had grown, as she enjoyed sharing that same love with others.

Mechelle is versed in teaching all styles of dance, but her specialty is Hip Hop and Jazz. She has three amazing children who also dance in her footsteps. They have grown into such amazing professional dancers thanks to Star Dance. She is blessed to find a studio like Star to call her home!

Nicolette Sikelianos

Matisse Swanson

Originally from San Luis Obispo County, Miss Matisse is a graduate student at California State University, Northridge studying biomechanics. She has a bachelor's degree in kinesiology with an option in dance. Since she took her first steps, Miss Matisse has been dancing, but her formal training started in 2006. Her love for dance is shown in her dedication to her training. After suffering a dance injury in 2013, she decided to dedicate her life to injury prevention and has been passionately teaching ever since. She loves to work with children of all ages and shares her love for dance with others. She plans to dance forever and help other dancers improve their technique to reduce injury. Her favorite dance style is contemporary, but she also enjoys ballet, hip-hop, and tap. Beyond dance, Matisse spends most of her free time doing ceramics and competitively racing Hobie Catamaran sailboats with her dad.




Sarah Polednak 

 Sarah Polednak graduated from the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts with a major in dance; prior to attending Marymount Manhattan where she majored in dance with a concentration in choreography. She has also attended training programs with ABT, The Kirov Ballet, and Joffrey Ballet School. Since finishing school, Sarah has worked as a professional dancer in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and New York. She has worked for artists such as Halsey, Kacey Musgraves, The Chemical Brothers, Iggy Azalea, Keith Urban, Khalid, Purity Ring, Richard Walters, Hayden James, and many more. Some of her recent TV and commercial credits include: Good Trouble, Yogi Tea, Tosh.0, Nickelodeon, Quibi, Lee’s Jeans, and Vivo. Sarah is currently continuing her career as a professional dancer, actress, choreographer, and educator in Los Angeles, California.

Victoria Chamorro-Matus


Miss Victoria has been dancing since the age of 2, training at Los Angeles Ballet Academy for 12 years and at Gotta Dance Studio until the age of 17 and has been part of many competitions/performing teams. She has studied Ballet, Hip hop, Jazz, Tap, Pointe, Contemporary/Lyrical, and Musical Theatre.


Miss Victoria was the dance captain during her senior year of high school, choreographing for winning competitions numbers, annual showcases and has been recognized as a National Recognized Honored Dancer. She also received her Undergraduate Degree In Interdisciplinary Dance Studies at Humboldt State University as well giving the opportunity to travel to the annual American College Dance Association in California and Nevada to represent Humboldt State University. She enjoys the affection of teaching and choreographing dances.


She has also been on numerous television shows as of Univision, CBS, the Rose Parade representing Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and performed with many dance artists. 


Victoria loves bringing the joy and giving the future dancers the same feeling she did at a young age and would pursue her long time goal of being a dance therapist as she is pursuing for her Master Degree.
